Meet Figaro

This is Figaro.  He is the newest addition to our family.  We got him in May.  This is proof why you should not wait until the last day of the month to go visiting teaching.  You end up coming home with something you don't really need...and sometimes want!

Figaro is a very funny and crazy cat.  He loves us so much you can tell, but he manages to get into SO much trouble!!!  I do believe that it is curisosity that will someday be his demise.  We always find him in the strangest places, and anywhere he can find something soft he will snuggle up and go to sleep.

Figaro figured out how to get up on the kitchen counter quite early. He leaps from the back of our couch onto the microwave and then he can get on to the counter. He has even figured out how to get up on top of the cupboards above our stove. Sometimes he will climb up there and sleep for hours.

Found him in a bucket.

He fell asleep watching me cook dinner.  He always has to be in all of the action.
Our dogs get along great with the cat. Roscoe and Figaro will play for hours on end. They wrestle back and forth and it is great entertainment. Lucky had more of a "don't touch me and we'll be fine" attitude at first with Figaro, but she has started to join in the playing. You can't help but feel sorry for Figaro when Roscoe and Lucky both gang up on him. But he manages to hold his own and there has been more than one time when one of the dogs (usually Roscoe) runs away crying.
Here is acting like he owns the place.  This was taken after he was out all night long and decided he was hungry enough to come home.
I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but the end of his tail looks kinda funny.  About a month ago we had a big fiasco one morning before work.  Brian and I had gotten up early and were getting ready for work.  We had showered and were going around the house getting ready and gathering things we needed for the day.  Figaro thinks morning time is his time and we are supposed to give him our undivided attention and he follows us everywhere.  As I was getting his food ready he got excited and tried to jump from the floor up on top of the microwave.  I had a decorative bowl that was made of very thick glass on there filled with little glass stones.  He didn't quite make it up and grabbed on to the bowl for dear life.  I tried to catch the bowl, but I couldn't grab it...it shattered on the floor...glass everywhere....little stones everywhere.  Brian was standing just on the other side of the incident and we were both stuck barefoot in the midst of glass.  Figaro was pretty scared and he shot off to hide for a bit.  I had to climb over the kitchen counter to get out of the glass.  I grabbed a broom and had to sweep over to my shoes and sweep over to Brian to give him his shoes.

We got it all cleaned up and we kept seeing little spots of blood on the floor.  We knew Figaro was hurt, but when we looked him over we couldn't find any cuts on his paws or on his body, so we figured he must be okay.  We got him to eat and after he was done eating there was a pool of blood.  Once again we looked him over and couldn't figure out where the blood was coming from.  We locked all of the animals inside the house so Figaro wouldn't get his wound infected wherever his wound was.  My mom came over during the day to let the dogs out.  She said Figaro let her hold him and she looked him over and looked at his paws and didn't see any cuts.  She also said though that she didn't see any blood while she was there, except for little spots on the tile.  We had mopped before we left so we knew that he was still bleeding some.  I came home and was holding Figaro and he seemed to be better....then I saw it.  He had a big cut on his tail about an inch from the end.

We debated taking him to the Vet, but the bleeding had stopped and we really couldn't get a very good look at it.  His tail slowly started to heal, but it still didn't look right.  We kept joking that his tail was going to fall off.  This past Saturday night he came up to sit in my lap for a bit and as I was petting him I noticed.....the end of his tail was GONE!!!  His tail really did fall off!  We had no idea it really was going to fall off.  But he seems much happier with it off and he moves his tail around much more.

Oh the adventures with Figaro, life is never dull with him around!
