I have been subbing for about 3 months now and I have had the chance to make several observations about today's generation, especially teenagers. Here are some of the conclusions I have come to about kids in this geographic area.
1. Kids have a total lack of respect for their teacher, their elders, or any form of authority.
2. Kids cannot listen to instructions if their lives depend on it.
3. Kids are LAZY!
4. Kids believe that having more piercings will increase their popularity.
5. Kids have the FOULEST language.
6. Kids think they are entitled to have money at their disposal.
7. Kids have been handed things their entire life.
8. Kids don't think they should have to go to school.
9. Kids think they're SO smart.
10. Kids just plain don't CARE.
Let's just say I can't wait for life to teach these kids a few lessons! Now this is, of course, is not a full list of all my observations, but I thought I only limit it to ten. Now not every teenager fits this list and they are the exception, it seems, and I am always thrilled to have those in my classes.
Being back subbing at the schools that I grew up attending always makes me reflect back to my school days. It is amazing in how just 8 years things have changed so drastically. I can't ever remember my classmates acting half of the way some of these kids do today. I hope that I can teach my children that the above behavior is less than desirable and to be the examples for others.

My teen is nothing like that. She certainly says this is true about some of the kids in her class tho and that they are at their worst for subs.
That's kids for you....ALWAYS testing their limits.
I LOve, LOVE your blog layout. So pretty.
Michelle your teen is NOTHING like that, and that makes me SO happy! I also know that we live in a very poor community and this seems to be the norm for this community, with the exception of the few good ones.
well- those kids these days intimidate me....and i'm an adult now! sad when you can't say anything to them for fear of their reaction.
