These are called Little Cakes or Tongan Pancakes. My dad made these for us all the time when we were growing up. I have fond memories of sitting in the family room with my brother eating little cakes while watching cartoons on a Saturday morning.
Not too long ago a few of my nephews spent the night and made little cakes. The boys absolutely loved it! It was great to see them enjoying something we enjoyed growing up. Last week my dad made some and took them to his students at school. They loved them as well and begged my dad to bring them again. So he took more a couple of days later and they were all gobbled up.
One of these days I'm going to have to learn how to make little cakes so the tradition can be carried on for many years to come!
