Thanksgiving & More

I know Thanksgiving is old news by now, but I'm a bit behind. We decided last minute to go to my Uncle Barry's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Brian had to work at Arbys Wednesday night until 9:00. The plan was to leave at 9-ish and drive to Twin Falls to his sister's house to stay the night. Well there was a slight snafu in our departure. As I was mixing the filling for the cheesecakes I was making, my hand mixer went out. I mean dead. So as I was in the middle and couldn't really just say forget it. I had to head out to the store the day before Thanksgiving. PURE CRAZINESS!! By the time I got back home and finished the filling it was already 10:00! Brian was determined we were leaving that night so we decided to just go and bake the cheesecakes at his sister's.

We got to his sister's house close to 1:00 a.m. and crashed for the night. I got up early and baked the cheesecakes and made a salad and we were able to spend some time with Brian's nieces Isabell, Haylee, and Brinlee. It was fun to spend a little time playing with them. That afternoon we made the journey (about an hour) to Oakley. My sister was there from Utah and all of the cousins. We had a good time with all the family and returned back to Idaho Falls on Friday morning so Brian could go to work.

I spent Friday at Brian's parents house as we got to have another Thanksgiving dinner with his family that day. Needless to say we were stuffed all weekend long. Every year Brian's family goes up in the mountains to cut down a Christmas tree. Brian was able to go with them this year and get a tree for us. We debated about getting a tree this year since we are going to Arizona for Christmas. But we decided it would be nice to have a tree of our own. So here it is almost a week later and the tree is still not decorated. I guess that's my project for tonight.

We went to Walmart last night and Brian saw this train that he wanted to get to put up around the Christmas tree. We got it and of course he had to set it up last night. But it's kinda big and it doesn't work the greatest so I am going to return it. He's bummed it didn't work out as we'd thought. So if anyone knows where we can find another train that doesn't cost a lot, let us know.

I'm just about done with my Christmas shopping. I've been trying to get more meaningful gifts this year. I don't want to get somebody something just so I can say I got them a gift. As I'm trying to declutter my house I don't want to add clutter to somebody else's.

Sorry this post is kinda long and boring, but I needed to update.

Thanksgiving was great. It was good to see you and the food you brought was delicious!! Sorry Friday didn't work out. I wish that Brian didn't have to work and we could have just hung out in Oakley. For your next blog I want to see that tree up and decorated.

p.s. It's probably good you don't have the train.... now that you have a dog:)
