Decision 2008

I consider myself to be a smart person, at least smarter than the average bear. Yes, I don't know everything. I will admit that. I especially have never been very interested in politics nor have I been very good at keeping up on current events. I've decided I need to be more diligent and educate myself in these areas. I do try to watch the news and read articles on the internet, but let's face it....some of it is BORING & CONFUSING. This is the first election that I can really vote. After not being quite old enough in 2000 and being away to college and voting via an away ballot, I want to do my research and DECIDE who I want to vote for. I don't want to vote for somebody JUST because they are affiliated with a certain political party. I KNOW that we must essentially pick between the lesser of two evils, but I want to know for myself which one that is.

Today during my internet perusing I read about the presidential debate happening tonight. So in my new objective to care about these things I PLANNED to watch. So I turned on the TV, found the right channel, sat back in my recliner, and prepared myself to learn more about each candidate. Then....the phone rang...It was my good friend, Sarah! I was very excited to talk to her and muted the TV. No big deal I only missed the first 5 minutes. The phone call ended and back to the debate. Then....I found myself nodding off. I guess I need to turn on the computer to keep me awake. I can check on some blogs and still follow along. I was doing pretty good multi-tasking until I got completely wrapped up in the blogs I was reading. I found what they were talking about DID NOT make sense to me and the blog DID.

So I didn't do so hot on learning more about the candidates. I still feel just as confused, if not more so, as I did before the debate. But at least I did ATTEMPT to learn more. What I do know is that our country is a MESS right now. The economy is HORRIBLE! (I hear about it everyday.) I can't AFFORD to go to the doctor! (yes I DO have insurance, not that it makes any difference.) I can't AFFORD gas! And I can BARELY AFFORD groceries!

I guess I have 39 days to sort out what I know and don't know about these 2 presidential hopefuls, their causes, and exercise my RIGHT to vote!

Well, Leilani I think you are like the rest of us. It is so hard to figure out politics, when they just bash each others views. I wish you luck in your pursuit of knowledge.

I just like to tune it all out! I know I shouldn't but it is a bit depressing for me, so I just ignore! I will vote, but I won't know every detail about each politician! Thanks for the yummy rolls tonight!!

Lani, you crack me up! It's fun reading your blog, because it makes me realize how much we are alike. Scary thought, huh? Yeah, I don't know where Anna came from hahaha.

Anyway, funny story. I'd like to buy Allie for $5.00 haha. Glad you had a good time.
